Menswear Collections: Best of Accessories

During Men's Fashion Week, a prominent trend was the focus on accessories. Luscious handbags, backpacks, totes, and a wide variety of shoes were showcased in various collections. Here are some of my favorite highlights:

1. Louis Vuitton by Pharrell: In a western bling theme, Pharrell revamped the classic LV Speedy bag in turquoise and pink. He also collaborated with Timberland, known for its iconic utilitarian boots, introducing intricately designed cowboy boots and fabulous cowboy hats. Each outfit was completed with striking turquoise jewelry and bling belts.

2. Dior: Kim Jones' Autumn/Winter 2024/25 collection was inspired by Rudolf Nureyev, a legendary ballet dancer. Jones transformed the masculine wardrobe with a balletcore twist, featuring turbans à la Nureyev, satin backpacks, and a range of masculine ballerina shoes in shades like green, grey, blush, and violet satin, creating a sensation.

3. Gucci: Sabato Sarno's Fall/Winter collection, "Ancora," focused on tailoring and a return to basics. A standout piece was the oversized version of the classic Jackie handbag, named after Jackie Kennedy, offered in saturated colors and paired with matching gloves. Another trend was the introduction of very long, skinny silk ties, ideally worn with extra-long coats.

4. Rick Owens: The futuristic boot, a collaboration with Straytukay, a Finnish designer with South African roots, debuted in this collection. These extra voluminous, outer-space-themed boots made of stretch rubber were designed to complement the silhouettes.

5. Hermès: The men's collection featured a surprising element: an oversized version of the Birkin bag. This piece showcased the exquisite French craftsmanship and the exceptional quality of Hermès' artisanal heritage in a single accessory.

6. Berluti: Renowned for its exceptional craftsmanship and luxurious materials, presented a distinguished collection at Men's Fashion Week 2024. The brand, celebrated for its artisanal leatherwork, especially in shoes and boots, has expanded its expertise to include a full range of menswear. Berluti's 2024 collection showcased a blend of traditional elegance and contemporary flair, maintaining its reputation for timeless designs with a modern twist.
