Du coeur à la main: Dolce &Gabbana exhibit in Paris:
January marks the start for Haute Couture week in Paris and just in time Dolce & Gabbana just opened their magnificent show “Du Coeur à la main” ( From the heart to the Hand) at the Grand Palais emphasizing creations of Alta Moda ,Alta Sartoria and Alta Gioielleria with unmistakable italian craftsmanship and rich cultural heritage especially from Sicily.
This exhibit has been curated by Florence Müller and produced by the Galuchat Agency and each room has a different theme that integrates their characteristic baroque opulence and extremely meticulous craftsmanship present in more than 200 designs exploring the brand’s unconventional approach of luxury.
An immersive experience:
Not only the viewer can enjoy a visual feast but also sound is present with Verdi and Vivaldi but also heartbeats and even broken glass sounds, the more immersive the experience the better.
Magnificent creations with elaborate techniques like italian Renaissance masterpieces, folkloric numbers and clerical designs revealing italian historical and cultural references which have always been the DNA of Dolce & Gabbana.
From one room to the next the designers want the viewer to feel like if they are in a cinematic stage.
Divine Mosaics is an extremely opulent part of the exhibit, in Devotion we can see the massive gold and black, the brand’s favorite colours and it’s sacred heart a symbol always present in their collections as well as their beauty line, inspirations from Puglia, Venice, Syracuse or Naples and my favorite room is an homage to Luchino Visconti’s Il Gattopardo always one of my favorite films expressing romance and absolute beauty and the décor is designed based on the Palazzo Gangi in Palermo and Mondello where the film was shot.
The Opera is also present in a fantastic room where you can hear areas from Cavalleria Rusticana a leitmotif in many of their fabulous shows they have staged even at La Scala.
