SAINT LAURENT
SUMMER 2025 WOMENSWEAR COLLECTION
ANTHONY VACCARELLO
No other House is as linked to a quintessential female archetype as Saint Laurent, whose ideal woman is more complex than the seductive perfection of classic muses. As Yves Saint Laurent could have said, I am the Saint Laurent woman. The Saint Laurent woman loves to indulge in darker penchants, an attraction to danger and pleasure she proudly owns in her modern agency.
Anthony Vaccarello develops what has set the House apart from day one: the relevance of Saint Laurent clothes is distilled from the independent attitude of the woman who wears them. Her contradictions reflect Yves Saint Laurent’s own persona, in which artful sophistication coexisted with instinctual desire.
To illustrate this, part of the collection recalls Yves Saint Laurent’s way of dressing, with fluid suits and jackets over blazers. A different side of the same character emerges in a more opulent skirt-dominated section. These ensembles echo the vibrant garments often seen in the works of painters the House founder cherished.
Over the years, the Saint Laurent woman’s multi-faceted allure has been embodied most eloquently by a special group of models with whom the House has forged lasting relationships. Selected both for their diverse singularity and for the way they symbolize a novel feminine ideal, these personalities are integral to the Saint Laurent universe. In an homage, tonight all looks are named after women that have been important to the House at different moments until today.
The show’s backdrop evolves the striking monumental sets of Vaccarello’s Saint Laurent. As a dark linear volume is inserted into a historic courtyard, an oval oculus reveals the night sky. A tall golden frieze envelops the space in a warm glow, while the distinctive blue floor nods to Yves’ famous gardens in Marrakech.
