New York, June 2024: Renowned violinist and GRAMMY® Award-winner Joshua Bell has been bestowed with the prestigious Páez Medal of Art by the Venezuelan American Endowment for the Arts (VAEA). This esteemed recognition, announced by VAEA Chairman Ali Cordero Casal, honors Bell's unwavering dedication to music education and his unparalleled contribution to the art form as a celebrated artist of our time.

Named after Venezuelan independence hero and humanist José Antonio Páez, the Páez Medal of Art is annually awarded to individuals who have demonstrated exceptional achievements and commitment to the arts. Bell joins a distinguished list of past recipients, further solidifying his legacy as a musical icon.

Spanning nearly four decades, Bell's illustrious career has been a symphony of mesmerizing performances with the world's leading orchestras and conductors. His virtuosic talent and profound musical interpretations have garnered him critical acclaim and adoration from audiences worldwide.

Beyond captivating performances, Bell's dedication to music education and cultural diplomacy initiatives has left an indelible mark. His involvement in projects like President Barack Obama's Committee on the Arts and Humanities' mission to Cuba exemplifies his belief in music's power to transcend borders and foster connections between diverse communities.

At the award ceremony, music was an essential element of the evening. The program featured an evocative performance of “Venezuela” by a group of young musical students, followed by the lively “Alma Llanera,” which was masterfully played by Joshua Bell, accompanied by his talented soprano wife, Larisa Martínez, and the accomplished Juilliard-trained pianist Giancarlo Llerena. This trio’s performance highlighted the richness of Venezuelan music, demonstrating their collective artistry and dedication.

Upon receiving the Páez Medal of Art, Bell expressed his heartfelt gratitude and reaffirmed his commitment to education and using music as a force for positive change and inspiration. "I am deeply honored to receive The Páez Medal of Art from The Venezuelan American Endowment for the Arts," he stated.
