Jérôme Pereira's Art Meets Science #MilanDesignWeek
At the heart of Milan Design Week, "Celestial Attraction" showcases the remarkable fusion of art and science through the eyes of French designer Jérôme Pereira. Hosted at Spazio CB32 near Fondazione Prada from April 16-21, this solo exhibition invites visitors into the poetic world of a geophysics-trained artist whose lighting sculptures shine in today's iconic interiors.
Pereira unveils eight wooden masterpieces alongside textile creations by Sylvia Eustache Rools, reflecting two decades of organic aesthetic exploration influenced by gravity, cosmos, and scientific breakthroughs. The exhibition highlights Pereira's unique approach to balancing art with scientific precision, featuring wood and glass "mobiles" crafted from forest-found materials and produced with master glassmakers.
The exhibition's standout pieces, inspired by scientific legacies and named after celestial bodies, evoke the cosmic origins of life. Pereira's works, from the asteroid-inspired SI-02 to the oak-crafted Icarus, resonate with themes of nature, transformation, and the universe's mysteries.
Complementing Pereira's sculptures, Eustache Rools presents new silk textiles, embodying geological and archaeological mystique through natural processes. PHILIA co-founder Ygaël Attali celebrates Pereira's inaugural show as a significant addition to contemporary sculpture, blending artistic beauty with philosophical depth.
